About this policy

This policy describes how Free Remote, an independent app by Keenan Venuti, handles information in the iPhone app and on this website.

What stays on your phone

The app saves device names, local network addresses, device settings, and preferences on your phone so you can reconnect. Pairing tokens and credentials are kept in the device’s secure storage. Free Remote does not require an account or send your saved-device list to a developer-operated server.

Your local network

Local Network permission lets the app discover and communicate with compatible devices on your network. Remote commands, pairing information, and device responses pass between your phone and the device you control. Only connect to devices you own or have permission to use.

When you launch or control a third-party service on your TV, that service and your TV manufacturer may process information under their own privacy policies.

No advertising or behavioral tracking

We do not include advertising SDKs or behavioral analytics in the app or this website. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. The website does not set advertising or analytics cookies.

Website hosting and support

The website is designed to be hosted by Vercel. Hosting providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, requested pages, browser information, and request times to deliver and protect the site. See Vercel’s Privacy Notice for information about its practices.

If you contact us, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address and description of a problem. We use it to respond and investigate the issue, and retain it only as needed for that purpose or to meet legal obligations.

Your choices

You can revoke Local Network permission in iPhone Settings and forget devices in the app to remove their saved connection details and pairing credentials. Removing the app removes its ordinary local app data; secure credentials may be retained by iOS, so forget saved devices before uninstalling when you want to remove their pairing information.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information provided through support. We do not hold a central copy of your locally saved TV settings.

Children and policy changes

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the app. If we learn that a child has provided personal information through support, we will take steps to delete it. Changes to this policy will be posted on this page with an updated date.
