Connect your TV
- Connect your iPhone and TV or streaming device to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open Free Remote and allow Local Network access when iOS asks.
- Find your device in the app, or add its local IP address manually.
- Follow the pairing prompt on your phone or TV, if your device requires one.
Something not connecting?
My TV isn’t showing up.
Check that your TV is on and connected to the same network as your phone. Guest Wi-Fi, network isolation, and some VPNs can stop devices from finding each other. Try entering the TV’s IP address from its network settings.
I didn’t allow Local Network access.
Open iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network, enable Free Remote, then reopen the app and try connecting again.
Some buttons aren’t available.
Different devices support different commands. A Chromecast receiver, for example, does not offer all the navigation controls of a Google TV device. The app adapts controls to the connection; firmware can also affect which commands work.
Can I mirror my screen or send photos?
Free Remote focuses on remote controls. Screen mirroring and direct photo, video, or music transfer are not included. Playback controls work with supported device sessions.
How do I remove a saved TV?
Use the app’s saved-device controls to forget the device. This removes its saved connection record and associated pairing credentials.
Choose your connection
For Google Cast receivers. Available controls depend on the receiver and active media session.
Use the Android TV connection and complete the on-screen pairing prompt.
Uses Roku’s local-network remote interface. Check your Roku settings if network control is disabled.
Accept the remote connection prompt on your TV when asked. Support varies by model and firmware.
